Amarillo, TX – If you’ve ever wanted to wear a hard hat, see what your picture would look like in a police lineup or test your knowledge of City trivia, then you won’t want to miss a visit to the City of Amarillo’s booth at the annual Chamber of Commerce BusinessConnection Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Amarillo Civic Center. The City of Amarillo is a Gold Sponsor for this special event and will occupy a large space in the northeast section of the Heritage Ballroom.
Several departments will be represented, including the Amarillo Civic Center Complex, Amarillo Police Department, Amarillo Fire Department, Amarillo Public Library, Amarillo Emergency Communications Center, Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport, Community Development and Parks and Recreation. Representatives from the City’s Every Drop Counts Water Conservation Team will be on hand, as well.
Those who visit the City’s booth will have an opportunity to take a picture in front of the Amarillo Civic Center Complex’s backdrop wearing various props like a hard hat, vest, police goggles and more – or you can pose with various City department mascots. There will also be a special appearance by Sasquatch from Noon to 1 p.m. – so bring your cameras!
Participants are encouraged to upload their photos to the City’s Facebook page and from all the entries, a winner will be selected to receive a pair of passes to the 2014-2015 Broadway Spotlight Series – Neil Berg’s Broadway Holiday – courtesy of the Amarillo Civic Center Complex. This contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook. Bring your business cards, too, for a chance to win our Grand Prize Drawing – a $200 gift card to Southwest Airlines from the Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport and additional drawings for gift cards to the City’s Comanche Trail and Ross Rogers Golf Complexes.
Visitors will also be encouraged to participate in City Trivia. Simply spin the wheel, answer a question related to the City and win a fabulous prize! Among the prizes the City will offer are luggage tags, lanyards, gift cards to the City’s Comanche Trail and Ross Rogers Golf Complex, free pool passes to City pools, Amarillo Zoo passes, Friends of the Library tote bags, book bags, book sale vouchers and more.
