Board of Appraisal Review

Administered by the Planning Department; three voting members consisting of one representative from the banking industry, one licensed real estate appraiser, and one member of the Amarillo Board of Realtors; meets as needed in City Hall, 509 East 7th Avenue, 2nd floor, Room 206.

The BAR provides a fair and equitable base upon which to collect and disburse funds for the maintenance or improvement of drainage in playa lake watersheds. The BAR is responsible for approving or amending appraised values for playa lakes and their watersheds. The BAR periodically reviews monies collected and disbursed when the City Engineer has certified that the requirements for the disbursal of the funds are in accordance with the flood hazard ordinance. Additional responsibilities include periodic review of proposed revisions of watershed areas necessitated by engineering studies to support a reallocation of funds from one watershed to another.
